Physician Retainer Fee

A physician retainer fee is not paid directly for treatment prevention or diagnosis of a medical condition and therefore not eligible. However, medical treatments actually performed by the physician are eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA) a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA), or a limited purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA- if the treatment is related to vision or dental). Physician retainer fees are not eligible with a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA).
